Ah, diamonds! These stunning, sparkling gemstones make every occasion unforgettable and each moment memorable. It is no wonder that jewellery lovers are drawn to diamonds and, in particular, a diamond ring. These precious stones are a great gift idea for rings. There is no better gift than diamonds, whether it’s for someone special, to treat yourself or to buy one as an engagement gift. You can’t go wrong with diamond jewellery, especially diamond rings.

It doesn’t matter what reason you choose to purchase a diamond band, the majority of people spend significant money on these sparkling jewels. How can you protect yourself from being scammed when you are making a significant investment for something that is so precious? It is important that you carefully choose a diamond engagement ring. Here’s a quick guideline that will help you buy diamond rings without being duped. Keep reading and you will be able to make an educated decision.
Things to Know Before You Buy A Diamond Ring

Think again if you thought that it was easy to tell whether a diamond is real by its shining shine. Fake stones are often mistaken for genuine diamonds because they have a dazzling shine. It could be zirconia, even though you may think it is a real diamond. It’s a simulation of a diamond that appears and feels like a true diamond, but it doesn’t actually exist. Even more confusing is the fact that it is hard to tell them apart by their looks. You can be confident that you’re buying a genuine diamond engagement ring by following these simple steps. These include understanding the basics of diamonds, selecting a reliable jeweller and asking for diamond certificate. You will get your money’s value if you keep these important things in consideration when purchasing a diamond engagement ring.
You Need to Know Your Basics

Before you even think about choosing a ring made of diamonds, you need to be familiar with the language used in diamonds. This includes knowing the meaning of the four Cs: cut, color (clearness), carat and texture. These four important factors will help you determine the diamond’s worth.

Cut: Of all the Cs, cut is considered the most significant. It determines how bright a diamond will sparkle. A poorly-cut diamond will shine less than a well cut one. Furthermore, some cuts such as marquise or Princess can make a stone appear larger than its actual size.

Colour: The second colour is C. It can be described in terms of D to Z grades. The most expensive grades of all are D and D. The cost of a diamond decreases with each grade, from D to Z.

Clarity: This is the next. It is the smallest imperfections and blemishes within a diamond that determines its clarity. These imperfections are called “inclusions”. The number of inclusions in a diamond affects its clarity. The clearer the diamond, the more beautiful it will be. Perfect (FL) diamonds have the highest clarity.

Carat: The fourth letter of the four is carat. Carat is the term that describes a diamond’s mass. Carat value refers to how large a stone is. The stone’s value will also increase with an increasing carat. Keep in mind that prices for stones with similar carat values could vary depending on the other Cs.
Does diamond certification matter?

Yes. It does. It is its certificate that will determine the authenticity of a gem. For any diamond you purchase, reputable jewellers will give you a certificate. Gemmological laboratories or gemmological institutes can certify real diamonds. Certifications are used to protect you in the event that the ring is fake. It is a good idea to ask for the certification before you buy a diamond band. You can ask for the certification in the reverse. Only buy diamond rings from jewellers who issue certificates of authenticity
Shop Online for Your Diamond Ring From a Reputable Jeweller

The ever-growing online jewelry business makes it easy to buy a ring with a diamond. There are plenty to choose from and great discounts. However, there are many scammers on the market due to this boom. Make sure you only buy diamond rings from a well-respected jeweller, online or offline. Don’t fall for the gimmicks of huge discounts. It is important to find jewellers and retailers with a history of being in the industry for a long time. Make sure to check their reviews and social media profiles. Ask if they can provide proof that the diamonds used in their ring are genuine (certifications). Before making a final decision, make sure you review their refund and return policies.
Tips and Tricks for Telling the Difference Between Real and Fake Diamonds

There are some basic safety precautions that must be taken before you buy a diamond band. However, you can still verify the authenticity by using some tricks. Here are two easy ways to tell the difference in a fake and real diamond.

The breath test. This test takes advantage of the fact diamonds are very good at transferring heat. When you blow on a diamond, the fog created by your breath will disappear almost immediately from its surface. While a fake diamond can conduct heat more efficiently, it takes longer to get rid of the moisture. A material called moissanite is quite similar to a real diamond in terms of its properties. It might pass the breath test. You should verify the authenticity by checking the facets of a similar-shaped gemstone on the ring that you have chosen. Moistanites and diamonds have different faceting patterns so they will appear different.

The sandpaper test is the diamond test. One piece of sandpaper will suffice to verify if the diamond is genuine or fake. It will not harm a diamond by lightly rubbing it with sandpaper. However, a fake diamond will scratch easily.

True beauty lies in the eye of beholder. But, no one would ever buy a fake engagement ring. It’s possible the jeweller is lying if you believe it to be too good for true. Know the basics of diamonds. You should do your research to find the best jeweller. Avoid falling for low prices, even though they may seem tempting. These things will help you avoid falling for a fake diamond ring.
