Colloidal silver is made up consisting of tiny silver particles suspended inside liquid base. It is advertised as a cure for a wide range of health conditions. Patients can take it through orally (orally). Some silver-containing colloidal products are sprays, applied to the skin or injected into veins.

Silver, which is a little differs from colloidal on the molecular level it has been utilized to treat ailments for thousands of years. The past was when it was believed to be the cure for all sorts of ailments, from arthritis and tuberculosis to cancer and herpes. Silver was also employed to treat wounds as an antimicrobial.

The uses of colloidal silver

Supplements should be tailored to your needs and reviewed by a health professional, like pharmacist, registered dietitian or healthcare provider. The purpose of supplements is not to cure, treat, or prevent illness.

Manufacturers of colloidal silver boast that their products will boost the immune system and aid in helping the body to heal. The supplement is believed to assist:

Repair injuries
Improve skin disorders
Treat or prevent diseases such as pneumonia, the flu, eye infections, herpes, cancer, shingles, and AIDS

A few test-tube studies have preliminary evidence to support a few of these assertions. They have shown that colloidal silver contains properties which fight the fungi, viruses, bacteria and inflammation. However, these studies don’t demonstrate what happens outside of within the testing tube. The need for high-quality human studies before scientists can draw firm conclusions.

Wound Healing

According to a review article, a variety of studies have looked into the application of silver-based dressings for skin ulcers and wounds. They discovered that silver particles have antibacterial properties, which helped treat diabetic ulcers.

It should be noted that this review does not specifically refer to colloidal silver. More studies using colloidal silver will be required before drawing firm conclusions regarding its potential to heal wounds.

Rhinosinusitis

A prospective cohort study investigated colloidal silver to treat chronic rhinosinusitis among 20 patients. Researchers evaluated the topical nasal spray that contained colloidal silver with the topical nasal spray with the saline. Following six weeks of treatment it was found that colloidal silver didn’t show improvements in rhinosinusitis clinically significant symptoms.

The study also examined the safety and effectiveness of colloidal silver for patients suffering from chronic rhinosinusitis. Researchers evaluated the nasal spray that contained silver colloidal UK with oral antibiotics. After 10 days of treatment the colloidal silver did not show any change in the treatment of symptoms as compared to oral antibiotics. No serious adverse side effects were noticed with colloidal Silver.

The efficacy of colloidal silver in treating rhinosinusitis isn’t as impressive as the findings of the study. Additional studies using colloidal gold will be required before drawing firm conclusion about its efficacy to treat rhinosinusitis.

What are the effects on the side effects Colloidal Silver?

The people who use colloidal silver are not likely to experience any immediate adverse negative effects. The issues are more related to the longer-term effects of using colloidal silver.

This is because particles build up in the body as time passes. They are absorbed into tissues and organs, and in particular the skin. As time passes, this could result in a permanent deformity, a condition that is known as argyria.

Argyria can cause tissues to change from blue-gray to bluish. It is most noticeable on the gums and then the eyes, skin and nails. It also affects the more deep tissue layers.

It’s not clear how harmful silver can be to organs in the body. However, animal studies have shown that silver has been linked with:

Liver and kidney dysfunction
Reproductive risks
Left hypertrophy of the ventricular wall

Common Side Effects

There is not much research available on the short-term effects of colloidal gold. However, there’s more information about the long-term consequences of colloidal silver.

Common side effects that are associated with long-term use of colloidal silver comprise:

Argyria
Ocular arryrosis
Fingernails with discoloration

The degree and the location of discoloration will depend on the dosage type and particular factors for the patient.

Dosage How Much Silver Colloidal Do I Need?

Always consult with your doctor prior to taking a supplement to make sure that the dosage and supplement is appropriate for your personal requirements.

Due to the absence of study, there’s no evidence of a safe and effective dose of colloidal gold. Furthermore, it’s not known the point at which the colloidal silver can become harmful.

One of the issues is the fact that the quantity of silver particles can differ from one brand in the same product to one. Some have as little as 10 part per million (ppm) While other have over 300 ppm.

In spite of the FDA ruling on the safety of colloidal silver, colloidal products containing silver are still sold in the form of dietary supplements. They are mostly liquid forms.

The colloidal silver can also be found in the following forms:

Soaps
Mouthwash
Eye drops
Body lotions
Cough drops
Nasal sprays

What happens if I take Over Colloidal Silver?

The research on the effects of colloidal silver on human beings is not extensive. There is no dose guidelines on colloidal silver.

The most commonly reported side consequence of long-term usage of colloidal silver is the argyria. Based on research in animals silver toxicity has resulted in the condition known as thrombocytopenia (low number of platelets) as well as clotting disorders, proteinuria (protein in urine) seizures, kidney dysfunction along with losing coordination.

How to Keep Colloidal Silver

Silver supplements made of colloidal silver should be kept in a dry, cool and well-ventilated location. Keep the supplements in the container from the container you bought the supplements.

Coloidal silver supplements should be discarded as per the expiration dates indicated on the packaging.

Make sure to keep colloidal silver along with other supplements away from reach of pets or children in your home.
