Reasons Everyone Should Use VPN – Including Non-Techies

You should use a VPN to access Netflix in your region if you have ever connected to public Wi-Fi networks.
VPNs are a service that encrypts and hides your IP by sending your network activity via a secure chain to another distant server. This anonymizes your online identity even when you are connected to public Wi-Fi networks.

8 Reasons to Use a VPN

The basics have been covered. We’ve covered the basics. Let’s take a closer look at what a VPN can do for you.

1. Public Wi-Fi Security

Although public Wi-Fi can be convenient, it comes with a high level of security. Someone could be monitoring your online activities while you are at work answering emails in a coffee shop, or scrolling through social media at airport security checkpoints.

A VPN protects your data when you’re on other networks. It hides your browsing history, bank information, passwords, and other sensitive information from malicious internet strangers.

2. Data Privacy from Your Internet Service Provider

You are less likely than if you connect to your public Wi-Fi network. Your data is still at risk.

All your internet data can be accessed by your internet service provider (ISP), which could be BT, Sky or Virgin Media. Your ISP can view what you do online.

Even if you use the “private” browsing option, this data could be sold to advertisers. It can also be harmful if it is misused. VPNs can mask your ISP address and hide your ISP from you.

For providers who’ll accept payments in crypto, head on over to Bitcoin VPN.

3. Data Privacy from the Apps and Services That You Use

Your ISP isn’t the only security weakness. Many of our favourite apps and internet services, including Facebook, have been criticized for how they use the data of users.

VPNs will stop websites and apps from attribution of your behavior to your ISP address. It also allows you to limit the collection and use of your browser history and location.

4. Access All Content

Although a streaming TV service like Netflix might not approve of you using a VPN to access blockbuster films or series from a country that doesn’t offer them, it is legal (in the UK) and can be used to circumvent content restrictions.

VPNs make it appear that you are surfing from another location by spoofing your location. This means that you can still get your boxset fix, even if it isn’t available locally.

5. Remote Work – Security

A VPN offers data encryption as a benefit. You can keep confidential information safe by using encryption, which is the process of putting data in a coded format to obscure its meaning.

Individuals who are considering investing in a VPN to protect their company’s data can use it to connect to the network, and access sensitive information on their devices. Remote work is possible even after the pandemic has ended, so a VPN can be a useful investment to protect confidential material off-site.

6. Simple To Use

We all want more security in our lives. However, certain security processes and devices seem more difficult than necessary for tech-phobic people. VPNs are however very easy to use.

Many providers offer intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that are easy to use and install for non-techies.

7. Smart Device Adaptability

Many people may try VPNs on laptops that are loaned by companies, but many VPN services can also be used to protect other devices, such as phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

While each VPN company might offer a different level of protection and different capabilities to protect different devices on different devices, many providers offer plans that can keep you protected on multiple devices.

8. Smart Savings

A VPN can save you money if you’re willing to do some research. Subscription services and airlines offer similar products or amenities at different prices.

You can save a lot of money if you make your location look more appealing so that services are available at a lower price.
VPNs have their limitations

A VPN can be a useful tool to separate your location (and you in many ways) from your data. However, it does not hide everything about you. While you’re connected to the VPN, an app that you use to take a Facebook quiz and like a post to Instagram can still use your behavior to customize in-app ads.

Although they might not be able to see where you’re browsing from, they can still see what you do on their apps.

Companies can also track you on the internet if you have cookies enabled. A VPN alone won’t hide your full data. You will need another open-source tool to anonymously browse the internet.

VPNs are not perfect tools. They are vulnerable to malware and other online attacks, just like any other computer program. A VPN’s security features are negated if they become infected.

A free VPN service increases the likelihood of security breaches and attacks. Free VPN services might sell user data to make a profit or display malware-infected ads. A paid VPN is the best option if you want to protect your data.

Global Legality Concerns

Legality is a key issue beyond security concerns. VPNs are prohibited or heavily regulated if you’re based or visiting countries such as Russia or China.

Before you use a VPN, it is important to be familiar with the laws in your country.
