Embracing the skies with Emirates as a cabin crew member, and standing as a global representative of the UAE, Debanjali Kamstra, originally from India, embodies unwavering loyalty to her newfound homeland.
Fresh from her victorious run at the Mrs. Earth 2023 competition in Manila, Debanjali graced the pages of the UAE spreading her love for the Nation. In a candid interview, she opened up about her recent triumph, reflecting on how her previous feat as the second runner-up in MRS World 2023 fueled her determination.
Debanjali accentuated the importance of her role in representing the UAE in the upcoming year, which coincides with the hosting of COP 28 on home turf. The chance to advocate for environmental causes on a global stage holds immense significance both for her and the nation she proudly stands for.
In her perspective, Debanjali aimed to redefine the notion of ‘beauty pageants,’ asserting that these platforms serve as catalysts for women to champion crucial causes. She highlighted how these events transcend aesthetics and enable participants to drive meaningful change.
Acknowledging the critics who questioned her representation of the UAE due to her non-Emirati origin, Debanjali responded with grace, paying homage to the diverse tapestry of the UAE’s inhabitants, regardless of official citizenship.
“I did not win in MRS World, but I’m so grateful for them even considering me. I was the first woman in history to represent the UAE internationally, and I receive a lot of comments that I’m not Emirati and questioning how I represent the UAE. However, I believe that to fall in love with this nation, you don’t need a passport. You can fall in love anytime. This country has given me everything.”
